Going back is something we do every single day on our smartphones. How does this work on the Google Pixel 6? Here's what you need to know.

Going back in apps/websites is one of the most basic features to know — but on the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro fromGoogle, how does this work? In more ways than not, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are two of the best smartphones on the market. They look great, take incredible photos, and are chock-full of excellent features. From instantly translating text messages to identifying any songs playing in the background, there's alotthe phones are capable of.

There's just one small problem with modern smartphones. As they become more advanced and more capable, knowing how to perform certain tasks isn't always easy. More features get added, older ones are changed/hidden, and it makes these handsets overwhelmingly complicated.

A prime example of this is going back on the Pixel 6. Let's say someone is in an application or website and wants to go back to the previous page. How do they do that? Put your finger on the left or right edge of the display and swipe in. That's all there is to it! A small arrow appears each time to confirm the gesture, as does a small vibration. Should someone find that the back gesture is too easy or difficult to perform, the Pixel 6 allows users to adjust its sensitivity. Open the Settings app, scroll down, tap 'System,' tap 'Gestures,' tap 'System navigation,' and tap the gear icon next to 'Gesture navigation.' This page shows two sliders for the back gesture sensitivity (one for the left edge and another for the right). Moving the slider towards 'Low' makes the gesture less sensitive, while moving it to 'High' makes it more sensitive.

How To Bring Back The Old Back Button

Still having trouble with the back gesture even after adjusting these settings? Another option is to get rid of the gestures and go back to Android's old button navigation system. This gets rid of gestures and puts buttons on the bottom of the screen. Enabling it is as follows: Open the Settings app, scroll down, tap 'System,' tap 'Gestures,' tap 'System navigation,' and tap '3-button navigation.' The square button opens the multitasking menu, the circle button goes to the Pixel 6's home screen, and the triangle button goes back — just with a single tap.

There's no right or wrong answer for which method you should choose. Play around with both options and see which feels the best. If the gestures work well, stick with those. If the buttons feel better, choose those instead. One of Android's best qualities is being able to tweak the UI to your exact liking, right down to changing how to go back.
